About BinMinder

One small household job, translated across hundreds of local systems

BinMinder checks the collection calendar published for an address and sends a free email the evening before. The international service currently has an available source for 749 of 802 listed areas outside the United Kingdom.

Why it exists

Collection information is public, but it is scattered among council, municipal, regional and private-hauler websites. The address questions and calendar formats change from one source to the next. BinMinder gives those systems one simple front door.

The useful answer is household-specific. A source may cover only some streets, properties or collection services inside a named area, so a council in our directory does not by itself prove coverage. A successful address lookup does.

How dates are handled

For each supported area, BinMinder connects to the source that publishes its collection calendar. The council pages identify the area, link to an official source where a checked link is available, and label the observation window behind any published frequency pattern.

The directory distinguishes an available source from a temporary failure and an area still being researched. Source checks and observed patterns do not replace the address lookup, and BinMinder does not present one sample household's dates as a municipality-wide calendar.

The service

On binminder.co, email reminders are free. A signup is tied to one address and timezone. The private dashboard link in the email lets the subscriber update the address, reminder time or timezone, or unsubscribe.

There is no international checkout or paid-plan promise on this site. Public pages may carry advertising or clearly identified affiliate links, which help fund the service.

Who runs it

BinMinder is built and maintained by Jon Hammant, a UK-based software engineer. It is an independent project and is not part of, endorsed by or operated by the councils and collection providers it links to.
